Let Valentines Day Begin!

Hello, Hello, Hello!  So happy you could join me today.  Remember all the color red I used at Christmas?  Well I told myself that I am sick of that color.  Made a promise to myself that I would not use red as they main focus of my Valentines day cards.  So far so good.  See what you think....but first the lyrics!

I made two different versions of the bear riding the turtle.  One is a brown bear and the other is a polar bear.  On each I inked the edges.  I also inked all the parts for the turtle.  If you haven't worked with ScrappyDew files before, here is a bit of advice.  Print out a wire frame picture (lines only no colors) of the finished file.  This will give you a guide to piecing your project.  Here is the first batch of Valentines for 2015.

I was just thinking that I sure do make a lot of cards.  But it's what I love.  ScrappyDew makes it so easy.

Did you know that you can also transfer a wireframe image from ScrappyDew into Inkscape and make an image to color?  I just learned about this and will give details in the coming weeks.  My new Spectrum Noir markers are just waiting to get coloring!

So next week I have a thank you card that was for a very dear friend.  Then back to more Valentines day cards.

My wish for you is a great upcoming week.  Have a very safe super bowl sunday.

Bright blessings, Jana

It's Birthday Time!

This Sunday is my daughter-in-law's birthday.  Each year I try to come up with a new idea. This year she has developed a creative streak.  She is really into Zentangles.  So I bought her the complete set of 8 book.  (i've gotten her other items through-out the year)  But I needed a really great gift tag to go on top of the present.  ScrappyDew to the rescue!  Here are the lyrics...

~I used the program Scrap Factory.  I used the mix and match feature with the Community   package Doctor and hair is labeled Neil.  Accessory is Stethoscope.
~Shirt paper Deja Views Alpha Blocks.
~The dog is from the Little Yorkies ScrappyDew file.
~All paper is leftover scraps from recollections and probably other companies.

So here is what I created.

Here is the super cute gift tag

A very pretty package!  (she's a vet, so paw print ribbon)
Her new Zentangle books
So that's it for this week.  Oh, almost forgot, if you hear a big shrill scream on Sunday...that would be either myself or one of my 3 daughters.  Going to the casino for brunch and bingo on Sunday.  Wish us luck!!!

Bright blessings for a wonderful and very happy week ahead!  Jana

My Aunty Kathy

Hi there friends!  Got some news last week.  My Auntie Kathy went to see her cardiologist for the 1st time in 7 years.  She had been having pains in her chest and just wanted to have this looked at.  The dr. scheduled an angiogram.  During this test, the dr. interrupted the technician and woke Auntie Kathy up.  Emergency 4x heart by-pass surgery.  Of course, she was taking a few medications that needed to be stopped.  So this Thursday she was scheduled.  Everything went great (praise the Lord) but she actually had all 5 done.  She is recovering, pain is manageable so she just has to get out of the hospital next week sometime.

Now I needed to make her a get well card.  Auntie Kathy and I are only 12 years apart and are more like sisters.  So I needed to make something that would get that grin back on her face.  So here is what I dreamed up, well with ScrappyDews help!  Here's the lyrics...

~Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells 12x12 paper
   *Frightful Folly
   *Steampunk Spells
   *Fanciful Florals
~Scrap Factory Program
   *Closed No Toes Body
   *Hair-DEBBIE
   *Winter Dress #7
   *Accessory Bunny Slippers
~Flannel material
~Felt
~Jewels
~Of course Make The Cut, and my printer

So I made the doll first.  I just love the Scrap Factory program.  There are probably millions of combinations for creating just the right doll for your project.  I knew I wanted to make the dress and sleeves in fabric.  So after cutting the paper pieces, I just glued on bits of material.  Worked slicker than a whistle!  Presto Chango....I had my card done and in the mail.

I made an easel card

See the little cup of cocoa?  I was able to find this free svg file from a wonderful new program that Rob and Michelle from ScrappyDew have developed. It's called SVG Hunter. Please take a look at the link.  It is the best money you could spend this year in your crafting.

So maybe next week I will be able to share with you the final gift tag and presents for my DIL birthday the end of the month.

Bright Blessing for a fabulous week!  Jana

It's Groooooovy!

What's Happening???????

Well over here in the studio, I've got 80's music streaming to get me into the mood for a FAR OUT birthday card to share with you today!  My dear friend will be celebrating shortly and I thought she needed a very groovy card!  But of course, lyrics first...

~ScrappyDew Groovy Palz #2
~Graphic 45 Bohemian Bazaar Papers
~Recollections paper
~Make the Cut Software
~KNK Zing ie zenith zing
~Colored Pencils and Pebbles Classic Chalks
~Rotary Cutter and Quilting rulers

I decided that I wanted a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card.  But for something a little different, I turned the card base on the side.  (just something different than my standard 6x6 card)  Then I started layering the Graphic 45 Bohemian Bazaar paper.  (I had a very big after christmas haul at Tuesday Morning)  I fiddled and fiddled and finally came up with a design that was what I wanted.  I thought that the colors in the papers reminded me of a pair of bell bottom pants that I had in the early 70's.  So naturally I wanted a really groovy chick for the card.  So here is what I came up with.....(let me know what you think in the comments below)

I love the colors, bright and festive

This is the back of the card
I am sure she will get a big kick out of this.  Brings back memories of us together.  Now, for next week, something a little different.  You can use ScrappyDew files  for a lot of different projects.  So come on back next saturday and see what I've dreamed up.

Bright blessings, Jana

Sweet dreams.....

Hello and welcome back!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Ours was very relaxing.  It's time to start in again with my card making (i'm still avoiding the color red, Christmas card overdose).

Do you remember the musical group called the Eurythmics?  A while back I was looking through a catalog and a phrase was featured on a t-shirt.  I bust a gut laughing and knew I could take it and make a spectacular card.  But first the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew file Say Cheese Mice #2 and #3
~Canvas Corp. Black and Ivory Cheese Sampler paper
~Recollections scraps
~Costco Silver reversible gift wrap
~KNK Zenith Zing
~Make The Cut Software
~Deja Views paper Pack Your Bags

This is going to a dear family member who has a warped sense of humor just like me.  She is going to just love this.  No tutorial on how I made this one.  It's pretty straight forward.  I cut the words for the cheese names out of the Cheese Sampler paper.  Next I made view 2 and 3 from the ScrappyDew file.  The words were done in a modified print and cut.  In other words, I printed the words inside of the basic shape.  Turned off the words in Make The Cut and using the registration marks cut the basic shape.  I then found the Pack your Bags paper in my stash.  Cut out squares and presto change-o the card is finished.  Of course if you have any questions leave a comment and I will respond.

So here is what I came up with...

Isn't this just fabulous!

Got creative with the inside.

I love laughing cow cheese, had to raid the fridge for picture props

This is the envelope

So what do you think?  It really came together well.  I have a birthday tag I am finishing and I will show you the tag and presents in the coming weeks.

So happy you could stop by today.  Next week I should have a new card design using ScrappyDew files and some of my new paper stash.  (cleaned out Tuesday Morning and got a ton of Graphic 45 papers and stuff) Have a great week!

Bright blessings, Jana
